Helping Hearts to Sing

Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!    (Psalm 95:2 ESV)

Everyone worships. Whether we bow to stone statues, praise technology, relationships, money, movie stars, or music itself, we all worship something, or some one. Here at Severna Park EP, however, God does something exciting and transforming. Through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ, we can offer God our whole lives, every part of our existence, in grateful response to His saving grace. That’s really what worship is: our loving response to God’s saving, healing, and transforming grace.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.   (Colossians 3:16 ESV)

The Bible teaches that God’s Word contains everything we need to know and glorify our Creator. The Apostle Paul wrote that we should fill ourselves with God’s word. To do this, we often look for  teaching and preaching. But look at the verse again, Paul writes about singing God’s truth! Like all acts of worship, our songs to God spring up from the wells of loving gratitude within our hearts—and encourage others to do the same.

And so, the central task of our ministry is to help our hearts sing. We serve this purpose in various ways…

Providing musical leadership for our worshiping community.
The focus of our music is congregational singing; encouraging God’s worshipers to sing his praises in unity, weaving our diversity into one great song of devotion to Christ. We use the Church’s music (hymns, choruses, anthems, etc) from across the centuries, ancient and recent, as well as different musical styles. We want to stay connected to the music of our ancestors in the Faith, while encouraging the writing of new music, as this generation sings a new song unto the Lord.

Providing musical support and resources to other Severna Park EP ministries.
Weekend retreats, Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, and Youth Ministry, Vacation Bible School, Weddings, Funerals and other worship times and special events

Providing musical worship resources to small groups, families, and individuals.
We are working to produce musical recordings, which will encourage daily contemplation and response to God’s word and works.

Displaying a Christ-centered musical witness in the Baltimore/Annapolis area. Hosting outreach events: a community coffee house, caroling at Sunrise Assisted Living in Severna Park
